Recfly: a simple and flexible tool to count words and better plan your projects!
RecFly is a tool developed by Traduït to count the units (words, characters or minutes) of a specific group of files and folders, and includes an option to automatically generate the corresponding report.
It can simultaneously count an entire selection of folders and files using a single format.
Reading time
You can now even calculate the approximate reading time for each text. You can also customise the pace in accordance with your reading speed.
It shares the same word count criteria that we use at Traduït in the management of all our translation and editing projects (except for web projects - HTML, SGML, etc.-). It allows us to thoroughly and clearly systematise calculation mechanisms with our clients and freelancers (translators and editors).
With this tool you can plan or check the volume of translation and editing projects with ease, using the same criteria followed by translators, editors and end clients.
It even allows you to count the text from Excel spreadsheets (automatically excluding numerical or data cells, and all the open formats Open Document andOpen Office.
Open distribution: The programme may be freely distributed in its original form, with no modifications. We believe its use goes beyond the world of translation or our immediate environment and we would therefore like to share this tool.

- Although we have not tested with Windows95, it should work. If it works for you, we would be very pleased if you would .

Updates |
The latest version is multilingual: you can currently choose from Catalan, Spanish, Euskera, Galician, English, German and Portuguese. If you would like to contribute with any other language (we would at least like to have all European languages!), write to us at and we will provide the text to translate (under 400 words).
